Protecting Our Future
The Cuyahoga County Child Fatality Review Board conducts individual case reviews of all child deaths in the county and makes recommendations for prevention strategies and systems change. The Board has released the final 2021 data set covering all child deaths.
Key Points from 2021:
- The county Black infant mortality rate reached an all-time low of 12.1
- Deaths due to abuse or neglect dropped 50 percent from 2020.
- The county experienced the lowest number of infant deaths in history (97)
