August 31st Event to Provide Latest Info on Delta Variant and How Risk to Children Has Changed Over Time

CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH – Invest in Children, Cuyahoga County’s public private partnership serving families with young children, is partnering with local pediatric infectious disease experts to host an online information event August 31st for parents and child care providers on the rapidly spreading COVID-19 “Delta Variant.”

Titled COVID & KIDS: What You Need to Know about the Delta Variant, the online webinar will be held from Noon to 1:00 p.m. via Zoom, as well as live streamed on the Cuyahoga County YouTube Channel. The session will feature Dr. Joan Zoltanski, Dr. Claudia Hoyen and Dr. Amy Edwards from University Hospitals Health System. Attendees will learn the latest about the delta variant, and how the risk of illness for young children has changed over the course of the pandemic.

“As parents prepare to send their children back to child care, preschool and Kindergarten this fall, we want them to have access to the best and most up-to-date information available, and to hear it from highly qualified and respected local medical experts,” said Invest in Children Director Rebekah Dorman, Ph.D.

“Keeping kids safe in the classroom during a pandemic is of critical importance,” said Cuyahoga County Executive Armond Budish. “Leaning on local experts to help keep parents informed so they can ensure their children’s health and safety can have a lasting impact on a student’s well-being and success in school.”

The event is free and open to the public. Participants can pre-register to join via Zoom by visiting investinchildren.cuyahogacounty.us. The full information session will also be archived on the Cuyahoga County YouTube Channel for those unable to join the live webinar.

Providing parents with high-quality information and preschool options is one of Invest in Children’s highest priorities. The Universal Pre-Kindergarten Program (UPK) now offers a high-quality preschool experience at 73 sites across Cuyahoga County, and free scholarships are available.
