Newborn Home Visiting Program
The Newborn Home Visiting program provides a home visit by a Registered Nurse to eligible first time and teen moms in Cuyahoga County. New moms learn about the health and growth of their baby and get answers to their questions. If mom or her baby have any medical problems, the nurse will discuss them, explain healthcare options, and provide guidance.
If you weren’t asked about a home visit while still at the hospital, new moms can find out if they are eligible by visiting the Newborn Home Visiting Program or calling (216) 201-2001 Ext: 1339.
During the home visit, the nurse will: - Weigh your baby
- Do a baby health check
- Talk with you about baby care
- Give you a free diaper bag and resources
- Answer questions about baby and self care
- Feeding including bottle and breast
- Safe sleeping arrangements
- Weight loss
- Umbilical cord healing
- Maternal depression
Home Visiting is provided free of charge by the Cuyahoga County Board of Health with funding from Invest in Children.
